Preparing for the Future
This spring, American Student Assistance® (ASA) has given you tips on financial spring cleaning and becoming financially literate. Now that your finances are in order, let’s talk about preparing for the future.
Summer Work-Study Jobs
If you’re still in college, chances are you’ll have more time to work during the summer months. Qualifying students in the Federal Work-Study Program can hold summer work-study jobs.
In addition to earning money for the coming year, you may also be able to gain valuable experience in a field or profession that you’re interested in pursuing. Talk to your school’s financial aid office to see what options are available to you.
Cut College Costs
There are many different ways to lower tuition costs. You can:
- Attend a less expensive school for 2 years or choose an accelerated course load.
- Take a heavier class load.
- Work while attending school.
Learn more about these options and decide if one might be right for you.
Preparing for Loan Repayment
You likely have a lot on your mind if you’re preparing to leave school. Things like final exams, job hunting, and graduation day itself all need your attention. But remember your student loans, too, and start preparing for loan repayment.
