College Planning Centers
Boston-area students planning for higher education can come to a College Planning Center for guidance on choosing a college, applying for financial aid and scholarships, managing money, and choosing a major or a career.
We also offer college guidebooks, study aids, computer access for college research, and information on GED, ESL and technical/vocational education opportunities.
American Student Assistance® (ASA) College Planning Centers are also Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCs), federally funded TRIO programs focused on providing low-income, first-generation students over the age of 18 with assistance in their pursuit of postsecondary education opportunities. The Boston EOC is part of the statewide network of EOCs operated with Massachusetts Education and Career Opportunities, Inc. (MassEdCO) as the sponsoring partner.
Not sure how to plan for your career? We also offer career assistance, including one-on-one counseling and help using these two career development tools:
- SIGI3: A free self-assessment tool that provides you with a realistic view of the best educational and career paths to ensure your future success. To use SIGI3, you will need to visit a College Planning Center.
- Massachusetts Career Information System: An interactive career information system offered by the Massachusetts Division of Employment and Training (DET). It is free for all Massachusetts residents, and accessible from any Internet-connected computer.
