American Student Assistance Revamps the Camp
Volunteers From Boston Nonprofit to Prepare Duxbury Camp for Summer
BOSTON, MA April 28, 2010 – Employees from the Boston nonprofit American Student Assistance®, the leading provider of education debt management services to college students and their families, will once again help “Revamp the Camp” at Crossroads for Kids' Camp Wing, 742 Keene Street, in Duxbury on April 30 and May 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
ASA® is sending volunteers to this event for the 4th year in a row. Each summer, Camp Wing provides housing for 200 disadvantaged and at-risk children to foster their development of coping skills, peer relation abilities, conflict resolution, and other life skills.
Over the 2 days, a total of 100 ASA volunteers will rake leaves, paint, repair screens, and do administrative office work and other tasks to get the camp ready for the summer activities.
“ASA is proud to once again contribute to this worthwhile cause,” said Lauren Rolfe, ASA vice president of human resources. “Camp Wing encourages children, many of whom may not have ever considered college up to this point, to recognize their potential and explore all opportunities, such as pursuing higher education.”
